A Brief History of the School

The school was founded in 1963 by a group of dedicated educators from St. Mary's Church and was originally named St. Mary's Church Secondary School. The school has been in operation for over 50 years.

In 1962, in order to take up the responsibility of promoting education and to meet the demand of primary school graduates for further studies, under the two main goals of "knowing the truth" and "practicing the way of the Lord," the then school board and the parishioners of St. Mary's Church worked actively to start a secondary school and build a new school building. In September 1964, St. Mary's Church Secondary School was officially opened.

At the beginning, our school was a private school, but in 1982, it was converted into a government-subsidized English secondary school and gradually developed into a full-established government-subsidized secondary school for boys and girls. As we entered the 21st century, we were actively implementing curriculum reform and facing the new demands of the new era, the old school building in Causeway Bay became inadequate.

By the grace of God, our school was officially allocated a new modern school building by the Education and Manpower Bureau (now known as the Education Bureau) in February 2005, and we received a generous donation from Dr. Mok Hing Yiu to fund the development of the new school, which was renamed as "St. Mary's Church Mok Hing Yiu Secondary School" to mark the good deed.

Words from the principal

Proverbs 22:6 (King James Version)
"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

In the face of confusing values of the twenty-first century, S.K.H. St. Mary's Church Mok Hing Yiu College has always practiced holistic Christian education, teaching our students to understand the meaning of life through the knowledge of biblical truths and to build good character, thus achieving the spirit of our school motto "Learning to Reach the Truth".

Our school provides a quality education with a well-balanced curriculum that actively develops students' bi-literacy and tri-lingualism for a good mastery of communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to respect, appreciate and care for others.

The school offers a wide range of activities to inspire students to explore and realize their full potential and cultivate an attitude of challenging themselves and pursuing excellence. Through enriching learning experiences, students are able to develop and maximize their strengths and build a foundation for their future professional development.

We believe that our students are respected, encouraged, loved and they take pride in being a student of S.K.H. St. Mary's Church Mok Hing Yiu College.

School Hymn

God Make My Life

A

Little Light

God make my life a little light, Within the world to glow;

求父使我生命如光,在此世上輝煌;

A little flame that burneth bright, Wherever I may go.

God make my life a little flower, That giveth joy to all,

求父使我生命如花,使人快樂增加;

Content to bloom in native bower, Although the place be small.

God make my life a little song, That comforteth the sad

That helpeth others to be strong, And makes the singer glad.

God make my life a little staff, Whereon the weak may rest,

That so what health and strength I have, May serve my neighbors best.

God make my life a little hymn, Of tenderness and praise,

求父使我生命如詩,溫柔讚美的詩;

Of faith, that never waxeth dim, In all His wondrous ways. Amen.

The school has planted 14 Cherry trees.

Manificent Cherry blossoms only once every year, this reminds us that we need to seize the good days.
